I'm back at the 50 trying to replace my gaskets/seals on the gear case. The oil was milky and I was scheduling a water pump change for this year so I figured that Id get the seal kit and go to town. I really didn't expect any major obstacles as I am doing some research and asking some questions where I need to. At this point I'd like to do the shift shaft seal and understand the length of the rod needs to be exact. I've seen how to make a jig to confirm length but am asking if someone can tell me the proper way to remove this shaft. I do know that its pinned by the screw ( Phillips type) thru the housing. Do I just remove the screw and the rod comes out??? Any help is greatly appreciated

Assuming it is a 2 stroke model.-----The shift rod screws out.------Do not remove any screws.
