I have a project coming this week I ned advice on. This motor the customer tells me that after running 10 minutes or so it completely shuts down, dead. After 15 minutes or so it will start and run for another 10 minute or so, and then it happens over and over.
He has taken it to a dealership and they could not find anything wrong with it. Not a single error code.
Now it is in my hands and I need advice. I dont want to just make him drop a bunch of money changing unnecessary parts. It seems like the only time to see the symptom is on the lake, and I live in San Diego where we have limited lake openings daily and crazy speed limits.
Anyone seen this symptom before?

Re: 2001 225 EVINRUDE FICHT shutting down

Just a couple more oddities to add on this motor shutting down.

1) After it shuts down, there is electricity to the horn, graph, etc.
2) There are no alarms going off prior to the motor shutting down.
3) The lights cycle through when the key is turned right after it shuts down, but will not crank over.
4) After its been running for awhile ( and hasn't shut down on its own) and the key is used to turn the motor off, it will not start back up again.
5) It takes about 5 to 6 minutes for the motor to start backup after it stops.
:confused::confused:
Hope this additional information helps and thanks in advance

Need Help

I am still looking for advice on this one. Does anyone think it may be in the key switch with a bad wire or loose connection. Maybe the kill switch circuit?
Please help.
Thanks.
