Finally got tired of my VDO gauges not working and did a retrofit with Faria gauges. If anyone needs any help with this just let me know. Cost was about the same as trying to have the VDO gauges repaired and now I have real gauges that can be replaced independently if needed. Oil and temp lights are stainless steel LED lights. Speedo can be hooked up to the original hose from outdrive but I chose to convert to a GPS speedo for about $100 more. The GPS speedo is awesome! We boat on a lake surrounded by mountains and the GPS speedo has always been able to receive a signal. Our boat has been used about every weekend since April 2017 and the gauges have performed flawlessly.

Wow that looks absolutely amazing! I hope you are still active on this site as I am about to do the same thing to my 2001 Bayliner Capri. I’m putting a remanufactured 5.7 in and decided to bite the bullet and put a new set of Autometer Marine gauges in so I would love any recommendations to the process you might have. My biggest question is the material you used for the backplate and how you got it to conform to the shape of the dash housing since it’s not necessarily flat across. Hope you are able to see this and thanks in advance!
