Greetings all.
I have a very frustrating recurring problem with my 15hp 4 stroke kicker motor. ever since I bought the boat I have had problems with small pieces of something getting into the bowl and causing the needle valve to stick open. every time it happens, I have totally disassembled it and thoroughly cleaned it. I also have so far, installed 2 brand new carb kits. and added 2 additional fuel filters. one from the hose to the motor and another in line filter to the back of the engine. when the carb does over flow I check the filters and they are clean. the only place I can think i might be getting the stuff from . is the little box on the back of the motor. I guess its the fuel pump . The filter I put on the motor is just before that. However,I have replaced all of the fuel lines and I still had the same problem. Last time I did put a clear fuel line to the carb, so I could see if the dirt was coming from there. didn't see anything. i thought that I had it licked until this weekend. it was the first time this season that I tried starting it and yes just like every year it over flowed. I should add that the motor while running at a low speed will all of a sudden make a pop sound and then die. at least once or twice a trip it will do that. my son has a friend who has the exact same motor and his motor run like a champ at low speeds. I looked it over and everything looks the same as mine. I am mechanically inclined and I have a full repair shop. also in the past I have rebuilt many engines and carbs. But this one has me stumped. So I would highly appreciate any advice. Thanks Terry
