This sounds a little off. 1.6amp sounds high.<br />If its normal, I'd be surprised.....but I've not seen everthing!!<br /><br />>try this<br />While leaving the grey lead connected, disconnect the power lead from the tach and see if the drain goes away. Its the lead that comes live with the key on.

2001 125 mercury regulator amps

i have noticed a small spark when connecting the battery.measured it to between 1.13A and 1.6A.when disconnectinting the grey wire that goes to the tacho, it is gone.<br />is this normal ,and will it drain the battery quicker?

it is continuos,i checked it with a digital ampmeter between batt+ and + cable point

yes,the tach works fine. on the mercury website's faq, a question was asked about a small spark, the manufaturer replied that a small spark is normal because newer engines requires a reference signal, how small this signal should be i don't know..
