2000 Yamaha HPDI Stalling above 2000rpm

I have a 2000 Yamaha 200 HP HPDI. If I try to run the engine above 2000 rpm it stalls. Have changed the plugs, fuel/water separator, cleaned the onboard fuel filter, plenty of oil, oil pumps from reservoir fine. No horn, no overheat signal. It has been suggested that it is a sensor malfunctioning that is telling the engine I am overheating or have a low oil situation or the engine is overheating. I was hoping it was something simple. Any help would be appreciated.

bill barr..... just a guess o2 sencer is located just behind the starter..to the rear of motor..good luck...
