My uncle has a 2000 Yamaha 1200 XL 2 stroke that he has $2000 in repairs from breaking down twice due to the power valves. It is currently broke down again due to the same problem so he just bought a 4 stroke to replace it. He was told, by the Yamaha dealership, that they were sick of working on it and it was not work fixing again. The wave runner is mine if I can fix it. So I don't waste my money like he did, Is it possible to replace the 2 stroke with a 4? And if so, how much money am I looking at spending?

A LOT. Not sure what the motor goes for but unless you find a wrecked 4 stroke and swap EVERYTHING over it will cost you probably as much if not more than going and buiying a new jet ski.
Fix the 2 stroke. Did you ever install PV keepers on the yamaha? if youre dropping a powervalve you need to install keepers to avoid that. There are PLENTY of 1200-1300 PV two strokes around that dont have problems. there are some KNOWN problems with those motors but they are fixable.

the fools at the dealership should have added power valve clips to the engine and avoided the problem// you can't change to a 4 stroke but you can do the power valve clips and fix the engine, if you add the clips you won't have any more issues with the valves hitting the rings

Actually the power valves have been updated several times and then you can install the aftermarket clips to keep them from dropping. Just did mine a couple of months ago.
