2000 volvo penta 5.0 to 5.7 swap?

[RCSConstruction]

I understand the fuel delivery system will need to be upgraded but is there anything else that will not switch over on these two motors?
Is there REALLY a difference in a marine and truck block?
I was thinking of getting a GM crate engine but not marine specific.
This is all for a 2000 wellcraft 186ss.
I did use the search function but after looking at around 5 pages I didn't find anything about this swap.

Other than you Might have to install Brass Coreplugs,........

Go for it,..... As long as the Vintage is the Same,......
All the Bolt Holes will be Exactly Where they Should be.......

The Cam in a GM Truck Crate motor is Soooo Close to a Marine cut,........
You'll Never Know the Difference,+ Neither will the Boat........

I'm guessing you running Throttle Body Injection?

The fuel system does not need any upgrades. But....The ECU will need to be changed. You will need Volvo Penta part # 3858888. They only run about a grand $$$$$$

A grand is rediculous. You could buy a complete NEW Holley TBI setup for the same money, this includes, throttle body, ECU, harness, fuel pump etc..

Volvo doesn't flash ecu's. And, as far as I know, no one else does either on the Marine stuff.
Had a few charter guys that spent a year looking after they told us it was possible. But they never found anyone that would do it.

A 305 chev with tbi will get you 62-63 in that boat, that's plenty fast. That is if that boat already has tbi, if not it's damm easy to get a 4bl carb and manifold raise hell with a 5.7, do you have a tbi system already in that boat?

I Don't Know if they'll Flash a Volvo,..... They're Quite Famous with the Hot-Rod Mercruiser crowd......

Are they the ones that custom map ecu's for trucks too.
I think i remember seeing them at pickuptruck . com They had really good customer service.
I found out it was a carb so I will look into what kind of carb. parts I will need. If i decide to do it.

You might also check with Sleek / Magic in Lake Havasu Az. They do a lot of HP engine work on boats other than their own. 928-680-7731 that is the service dept ph#.​
