Bilge, aerator, nav lights, fish finder and radio all went out a few days after putting them all on main battery. Bought new back up and reattached aux. cables but now nothing works but the motor. Good Voltage at Batteries and all fuse panal fuses are good? Any help much appreciated.

Re: 2000 Tracker lost all aux power

do you have a master switch or anything else between the battery and the fuse panel. There may be a breaker near the battery or a push to reset near the drivers seat also. If you have a volt meter test to see if you have 12v at the fuse panel. Also check the large black cable that will be attached to the battery as all the aux will be using that as a return.

The motor is a different circuit from the boat so its no surprise that the motor is unaffected.

Thanks much for your reply. I used a bulb style voltage checker but I didn't use a volt meter like I should. The fuses have power to both sides and the inline fuse close to the battery looks good but I did not check for anything else. I'll check out your tips tomorrow, thanks again!

if the fuses have power but nothing works where was you placing the ground clip of the test light?. Try to use the same place a black wire is connected like on the back of a gauge if the light stops working then the problem is on the ground side.

step by step how to fix the gauges including drawings

still have the problem, do you know where does the main ground come from -the battery? I have 3 black grounds coming to batteries, the main motor one and two from separate harnesses. One is the trolling motor and the other is fairly small. The motor starts and runs fine so I would think that ground is ok? I would set it ablaze if I could afford insurance!! haha

Ground is the NEG terminal at the battery. But the wire that runs from there may split at any number of places forward in the boat. You need a meter and you need to know how to use it.

Re: 2000 Tracker lost all aux power

Thanks for the try on helping. I have a meter and know how to use it. I posted here hoping for tracker specific info as tracker themselves are no help what so ever. Tracker has a wire color code guide but no diagram showing terminals and combinations. I bought this boat new in 2000 and several of the colors do not match. The problem is somewhere in the 3 foot sleeve from rear seat back but it is enclosed in a 2 inch factory pvc. All wiring and steering cables are in this sleeve and they are wrapped so no pulling one out without all out. Thus the reason I was hoping for tracker specific info since what goes in the sleeve does not match what comes out at the rear. Tracker themselves in Clinton,Mo. admitted they still have no rhyme or reason for how they wire boats as long as it works when they are done. Thanks anyway once again,

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Then all ya gotta do is See where there's power, 'n See where there's ground,...

If the dash ground don't run back to the battery, Run another wire to create a new ground path,....

Re: 2000 Tracker lost all aux power

sry baryun but boats are a pain so once you have worked out that you have a broken ground wire by the results of the voltmeter most people do not bother to go looking for the problem as its in a multicore cable. Just add another wire and fish on.
http://forums.iboats.com/electrical...tors/spdt-dpdt-spst-dpst-switches-625573.html is a link to a post where the OP posted a diagram he got from tracker. This is a line drawing so it doesn't show how it was run just where it started at the front and where it joined the harness to the rear

p.s the most common point of failure is the harness plug as the pins get corroded so chase the wire to the plug using a meter then unplug and test the other side (its not uncommon to either fix the plug or by pass the bad pin)
