I recently purchased a 2000 suzuki df 25 four stroke. I installed it on my 15'x42" Duracraft boat. The engine seems to start and run very slick but is extremely slow! It will only run 20mph by gps measure. The prop is a 10.5x10. Also, I can be running WOT and the engine is kind of sluggish sounding, I can ease the choke out about halfway and the engine picks up quite a bit. Any idea on what could be the culprit here?

Thanks!

If engine "picks up" when you choke it, then you're essentially overcoming a lean fuel mixture, and you may need to remove and clean carb jets. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help Robert! Do you have any tips on adjusting the shift linkage on that engine? I adjusted it from the outside of the lower housing (2-10mm wrenches) but it still doesnt want to go in reverse correctly? Is there another adjustment?

Thanks,

Chuck
