Hi All. Just bought our first boat and am darn glad we did. Almost everything worked well, as the previous owner was meticulous in his care for the boat. He did mention that he had experienced an issue with the fuel gauge on his second to last trip before selling it to us. On his final trip, the gauge worked fine.

Today, the gauge initially worked just fine, but then suddenly indicated exactly 1/4 full when it had just previously indicated 3/4 full. Every once in a while, and for no apparent reason, the gauge would indicate accurately, then fail to the 1/4 position again where it would remain. So the gauge only intermittently indicates accurately. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

most likely loose or corroded connection at the tank.

I agree with Scott. Clean all the gauge connections and it will probably fix it. That means the tank connections, both the sensor wire AND the ground...
