Whats up everyone. Im new to boating, and recently purchased a 2000 Rinker Captiva 232. I was wondering if I could get other 232 (or 24'er owners for that matter) to post up their engine specs, prop specs and speed specs. I would like to know if im comparable to the rest of the guys running similar set-ups.

for me:

Boat: 2000 Rinker Captiva 232 Cuddy
Engine:Merc 5.0
Outdrive: Alpha 1 (Gen2)
Prop: unknown
Speed: Top speed of 38-39mph on semi rough water, prolly could hit 40mph on a flat lake, this was at 4800ish RPM.

Thanks Guys!

You will become a expert on prop with your boat. 5.0 with single prop Alpha 1 is severely under power for 232 which is a heavy boat for it`s class. Although the boat will do ok until you put more than 6 people on it then you will feel the need for more engine.

My In-Low had a 2001 Captiva BR with 5.0 EFI (not MPI) with Alpha 1 drive and the most he got out was 44 MPH (GPS) with Merc. Revolution 4 prop, 1/3 tank full of fuel and 2 adults in the boat. He tried about dozen of different props and ended up with this Revolution 4 (Stainless Steel, 4 blades) with 19? pitch prop. I have ride on the boat numbers of times and felt very good for the most of typical cruising we do and great boat for a new boater.

Excellent information! Thanks for replying. I agree, the 5.0 feels under powered for that boat. That is why I was asking for other 232 owners to pipe up!

Thanks again. Hopefully more people will contribute!
