I bought this 2000 outboard bf50 last year from a guy that previously had broken the camshaft while driving. No damage to other engine parts. He and his buddy had to put on a head with camshaft because the are machined to fit each other and does not have bearings along the camshaft caps like many cars do. It ran in a garbage can when i went to check it out. Took it out and about ten to fifteen minutes later the motor made a classic bearing like humming noise and shut down with no restart. Took it back and checked compression and timing marks. No compression in number two cylinder. (same cylinder where cam broke before. Removed valve cover and found camshaft to be in tack but iit was blue and purple. I'm taking that this is an oiling system problem. Maybe clogged passage or oil pressure issue.

Has anyone ran into this problem or know if this is an issue with these motors. I've looked all over and have not heard of this happening to these.
