I am in need of some help. I have a 2000 mercury 5hp 4 stroke outboard. Serial 0R010.... I have replaced Coil, Plug, Carb, fuel line and fuel pump. It starts up great, but dies out when given full throttle in the water. And then does not like to crank again. I have placed a pressure gauge in between the fuel pump and card, and get nothing. I can also pull the fuel line off carb while running and get no gas spitting at all. I have tried 3 different, brand new fuel pumps with the same outcome. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the lobe on the camshaft. The Oring on the fuel pump. Restriction from tank to fuel line. Fuel **** clogged. Air leak at fuel connector. Are you getting fuel to the pump ? Is the new carburetor a Mercury carburetor specified for your engine. ? Or an online replacement.? Fuel pump not seated. Fuel lines out and in crossed. Put a small piece of clear fuel line before and after the fuel pump run it and watch. You wont see much or register much pressure at an idle. Float or needle valve may be stuck, clean the carb. Are you running from a remote tank or the internal.tank.? Try to gravity feed the carb from another source with known fresh fuel.and watch the clear fuel line you have installed. Try a fourth pump purchased from Mercury or Tohatsu.
