Im just trying to get some insight on my motor in my boat. Its a inboard, 2000 mercruiser 5.7 250HP. I always brought it to mariner for service but now am doing my own service. Wanted to find out how many quarts of oil with filter change does this engine hold? Also does anybody know the filter size i need? and does this boat require synthetic or regular 5w-10w...dont know..? Also i was wondering if there is a regular drain plug on the pan like a car? Or do i have to use the special hand pump i have that sucks oil out of dip stick slot?
Next was my fuel filter/water seperator? Does anybody know size off hand for that as well?
about year or so back my father adjusted the carb and ever since then sometiomes when I rev it in nuteral the carb makes a popping noise like a mini backfire or something, which i think also affects when i shut it off it tries to stay running and doesnt just shut off.
And my last concern was shifting from nuetral to drive/reverse does it matter if you shift slow into gear and hear that grinding noise or best to shift fast into gear
Thanks a ton for the help!
