New to the forum and new to owning a boat too. I had a 14 ft aluminum gifted to me recently (family heirloom I suppose, 1960 something) and I need an outboard for it.
I'm pretty sure I want an 8-10 HP motor giving both fuel and power consideration. I'm a little back and forth on the 2 or 4 stroke decision. Weight is an issue as I'll be towing in the higher end of my vehicles capacity.
Anyways to the main question. I've got a line (friend of a friend) on a 2 stroke 2000 9.9 merc manual start. Is this a decent motor if it's been taken care of? Anything to look for in particular? Supposed to be a little less than 100hrs trolling on it. Is it going to be so loud trolling my wife won't come fishing (this could be good and bad
