2000 Merc 150

The overheat alarm comes on before even starting the engine. The motor pisses good and it has new thermostats. Any thoughts?

Could be a bad temp sensor. Disconnect it and test again.

Now the alarm is a non steady sound. The book says this is an oil alarm. The engine smokes when running and the oil reserve was just filled. The alarm starts the secound the key is turned.
