Hey, I just became the proud owner of 1900 CC Sportsman & want to add a kicker motor to back up my Yamaha 130. I purchased a NIB Yamaha 15hp 4 stroke (114#s dry). I've built a bracket to hang below the transom rub rail on starboard side. The only accessible location for backup plate & get to locknuts is through the rear storage box. Has anyone any knowledge of this being a suitable setup? Any info appreciated.....

Re: 2000 KW1900CC Kicker Bracket Mounting

OK, it's been a few days w/ 0 replies so I'll answer myself:
I drilled the bracket hole pattern going through the storage box for easy access to locknuts. SURPRISE- The transom thickness on bottom bolts is 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in thick while the top thickness is only 1/2 in. The storage box thickness is 1/8 in! PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED- how to fill void between transom & storage box? SOLUTION= I used solid teflon blocks wedged between transom & box; re-drilled holes through teflon; bolted bracket arrangement on (using plenty of 5200 sealant). This should be solid....I guess water testing this summer will tell the tale! Cheers....
