2000 johnson powerhead into 1975 case

i have a great running 2000 johnson 50 (busted lower unit) i have a so so running evinrude 50 from 1975..can i put the powerhead from the 2000 johnson into the 1975 evinrude case?

I think the driveshaft splines are different.----Will not fit !

what if i had a custom driveshaft made would the rest fit?

or what about the electronic ignition from the newer motor put on the old?
