2000 johnson ocean pro 150 hp

Recently it has been hard starting and stalling. Once it gets going it seems to work fine until I let it sit for about 1/2 hour or more than it can take up to 20 minutes to get going. It will sputter and stall. I don't have a serial # right now, the boat is at the lake. Any suggestions where to start?

is j150vxsig the right number?

The only model number that I can find that comes close is J150VXSSS and it looks like it takes the OMC standard plug, Champion QL77JC4.

As for the hard start problem, you probably should start with basic troubleshooting procedure. There are several threads on this forum describing that. Perhaps someone will jump in and point you to one or maybe they have a copy and paste version they can stick in here quickly.

right now I have ngk bpr7hs it calls for ql78yc. I can't seem to find any reason for that ngk plug to be in there. I think it is the wrong plug.
