2000 Johnson 4hp 2cycle, 2cylinder failing
Very new to the outboard motor thing, so any tips no matter how basic will be appreciated. I have a 2000 Johnson 4hp 2cycle motor that ran beautifully the first weekend I used it. After learning (the hard way
) that winterizing a motor is a good idea...I had the carburator replaced to fix the stalling that was occurring. After the fix, the motor ran well. I had it "winterized" this year, only to find that the idle is erratic and it stalls everytime I engage the drive (same problem as before). Is it possible I botched the carburater that quickly, or is something else going on here? Do I need to have this thing serviced at the start of every season? Keep in mind this motor has only been used 5 times...so it has very few hours on it.
