Interested in a 2000 Sea Hunt Triton 172 with a 2000 Johnson 130 hp outboard. When it comes to boats and outboards, anything newer than 25-30 years old is "new" in my book :D

Based on my research, the OB is NOT a FICHT, fancy fuel-injected, computer-controlled, or any of that...it's a good old V4 carbureted looper, maybe one of the last of the "uncomplicated" 2-strokes. Is that correct?

Also, as far as I know, it is a VRO (or whatever the name) / oil-injected motor (i.e., not pre-mix); is that correct? And if so, is it reliable in that model year?

Overall, is this a good motor? Any particular watchouts? Parts availablility? Ease to work on/tune-up? How reliable is the T&T on these?

Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, fantastic motor all around. VRO should be reliable at that vintage.

I agree. Excellent all around. Just try to keep oil reservoir as full as posible with clean oil, check filters now and then, and you have a good system.

Cheers.
