Hello, Am a newbe to this forum so HI to all and I have a question or two. 2000 115 ficht outboard runs like crap, sputters cuts out, surges on mid and top speed. Reputable shop says they can't find anything after running the software. Question is can't you hook up a scope (similar to automotive diagnostic type) to these motors to diagnose injector and or ignition failures? Also what all test does the software allow you to perform? Any help is appreciated. Darrell

When's the last time the spark plugs were replaced and indexed ??

I did all the basics before resorting to shop. Fuel filter, fuel treatment, drained and flushed oil tank, new proper plugs indexed and usual PM measures were taken.

Update, now they say a lift pump problem. Am picking up the boat as of this writing. Ordered a new lift pump assembly to install myself, but I am looking to purchase the FICHT software for my own personal use. Any help there??? Thanks for the replies. Darrell

Re: 2000 ficht 115 hp.

Your symptoms are similar to what I experienced when I had a problem with my coils on a 200hp ficht. The problem is that the ground straps for the coils corrode over time and either separate or lose connection to the block. If you haven't done so already, remove each coil pack and inspect the ground strap and the mating surface on the block for corrosion. It's a pretty easy fix to repair these (see my post on this procedure), or just get new ones off ebay. A quick check would be to put a timing light on each plug wire and see if you're getting consistent spark.
If you have the software, you can fire each coil individually and check the spark. You can also fire each injector individually. Having the software is indispensable if you do your own troubleshooting.

That is what I'm currently looking for is a copy of the software to purchase. Any help there would be appreciated. Also thanks for the coil ground advice. Next to-do thing on my list. Darrell

Re: 2000 ficht 115 hp.

The software and cable can be found on eBay. Check your model and year to be sure the version you're buying will work with it. I have version 1.21 and it works fine with my 2000 200 hp ficht. I just got the software and made my own cable, but that's up to you.
