2000 Evinrude 40 HP

Hi the motor is having a surging issue and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if they have any suggestions on what to check. I alread have put in an inlione fuel filter and run cleaner. Thanks for any ideas!!

Remove starter and check pulse hose to VRO pump, on some engines the starter rubs a hole in the hose, you grind a notch in the starter housing, if this is a problem.

Is that an issue specific to this model year? There are no do it yourself manuals that I could find for this motor since it is so new. I was looking for a place on the web that had diagrams if the internals of the motor, do you know of any such place? Thanks again.

Yes, and may include 1999 and 2001. If I remember the older engine had a notch cut in the starter housing to clear the hose. If the hose is ok, check the coil with meter.
