Looking to get my first boat. What an 18-20' bowrider. I've looked around a lot and came across this ad on craigslist. He is the second owner, but all the service was done at a local dealer. Haven't seen it in person yet and only have the one picture, he said he will get me more. But based on the ad, does this seem like a good boat?

Yes, that boat looks OK . . . adequate power, and Crownline is a decent brand. Check NADA.com to get a price reference . . . asking price seems about 20% high, even considering the trailer.

I thought it was one of the better deals I've found. Is it a bad time to look, selection is not real great around here.

It's sneaking up on the time when boat prices start going up (closer to "going out on the water" time). Though, used boats have been good buys in the last couple of years due to many people having to adjust lifestyles. Best advice, set a budget and wait for your pitch.

I've also found this Glastron which I like. It's a two owner boat and he says it only has 89 hours on it. Don't know if I believe it but it looks to be in really good shape.

Hours are probably not the most important thing to worry about. In fact, only having 89 hours on it in 12 years seems odd - Less than a day's boating per year. Systems are designed to "go" more than that. I like size and the layout of the Glastron a little better, but it's more an issue of better condition. They both feel a bit high priced to me, but that may be market more than anything (I'm a skinflint and buy cheap boats :D).

Both boats are worth a look. If you're not used to buying boats, it might be worth the fee to ask a marine mechanic to look one over for you.

Welcome aboard!
