I recently purchased a 19' center console with a 2000 BF90. I can't quite tell how many hours are on it, since the hour meter/tach was replaced before purchase. The motor runs well, but i have had a couple of problems. (Coil pack fail/sometimes starter doesn't turn). My biggest problem right now is difficulty going into reverse. Sometimes it will just grind and won't go into gear. Other times it will pop right in. Once in reverse, it feels fine. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
...I lowered the idle down to around 750-800 RPMs from around 900, and it seemed to help some. It still grinds sometimes going into reverse, but not at all going into foward gear. I'm willing to try anything at this point... I can't believe there are no replies....
