I am having starter cranking problems in my 2000 model Bayliner Capri with 3.0 litre 4 cylinder enginer.

I have replaced starter and fully charged battery. Turning ignition switch makes a single click (I presume the solenoid) but does not turn starter over and does not crank engine. I can jump the solenoid posts on the starter and it will spin. I am told the slave solenoid could be my problem. But I cannot find it. I have tried to trace the yellow/red wire and the red/purple wire to try to find it but they disapper in to the harness wrap. I think I can recognize it if someone can give me a general direction or area to look in. A picture of the location would be super and very much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Don. I've looked through many of your posts. I'll bring out the old test light and multi-meter and follow these steps. I am still wondering where the heck to find the slave solenoid if for no other reason than curosity. Thanks again for your help
