I have a water leak, replaced the drain/ fill screw washers still have a leak.
I took it out for about 45 min total run time gearcase oil is milky and cloudy. I would like to pressure test it.
In the Clymers shop manual in the instructions for pressure testing it says NOTE: On some models such as the gearcases for the 8-15 hp models hold the driveshaft down to keep if from becoming dislodged while the pressure increases.
Does this mean you can only pressure test with the gearcase removed from the motor or can you test it when the entire motor is together and if so how would you hold the drive shaft down in that case.
Also does anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive pressure tester?
I would like to have an idea if its the propeller seals or from the water pump housing, I have the Clymers shop manual from the looks of it the water pump seals should be fairly straight forward, but if its the prop seals Im not sure about tackling that myself unless the instructions make it sound worse than it really is.
I have so many emergency repairs going on at once I had hoped I could replace the drain screw seals and be done with this one t... NOT :/
