hi fellows , been along time since here on iboat.. had to re-up a new account an new name.. pretty much gave it up when 'dockside chat' became sooooo 'stepford PC' it was sickening .. but i'm back for now..

i guess the thermostat went an never knew it.. swear i just had 'water-in-the -gas problem'.. !!

yeah,, i had water in the gas alright,, much of it..!! but not from the fuel tank,, but from the sassafras river.. nary a wrench ever touched the engine since jump. 'cept for impeller an plugs ..

anyways,, i noticed milky watery oil snot coming out the carbs an 1300 rpms off of usual WOT of 5200.. OH NO,, MY BABY..what have i done..?? i pulled the head an never seen a mess like this .. sooo bad the head ( heads ,,, there's two.. the main head an gasket an head cover an gasket ) warped .. i ordered new everything .. they're on santa's fed ex as a write this..

the cleaning would of took three hours a day till april just to clean.. i'm glad i'm getting all new parts.. but the engine block it cruddest thickest .. half the gasket is nuclear fused to the block..

my question is,, how/what/way to get this block good to go..??

i've read around an the best seems to be 'OVEN CLEANER' an a fine green 2'' scotch lock pad on a small HF air die grinder.. but i am here an open mind for any an all help..

i want to get this right an only have 'one shot'..

A metal spatula, metal thin sand paper, extreme patience along some cold ones will surely make the trick. All metal surfaces must be impeccable clean for gaskets to sit & seal well.

appreciate the help.. an by all means i lack the higher knowledge of this undertaking.. i know enough to know i only got one shot at best to get this right.. an i'm armed with just enough flea market tools ,, air compressor an lots of hilljack know-how ,, makes me dangerous..

the tohatsu manual says in bold print numerous times ( an it doesn't hold your hand much at all in these pages) says DO NOT USE METAL SCRAPPERS OF ANY KIND.. plastic scrappers an scotch pads are recommended ..

yeah, right..!! like to get a factory rep to see this mess..

thanks again.. i'm in no hurry now .. i was.. the weather's been soooo mild.. but it can't last.. might just wait for spring.. maybe keep soaking with kroil oil or something..

there's got to be something to soften this nuclear fused hollocust up a little...

If old gaskets are near welded to powerhead walls or comes out in bits, plastic scrappers won't do their homework right. If using metal tools to remove old gaskets just don't scrape or abrade walls.
