Have had this motor for 3 years after only owning Evinrudes my entire life.
This motor is absolutely awesome.I have used same fuel(same gas station) and same Penzoil 2 stroke oil the entire time.I noticed some extra smoke coming from exhaust
the past few weeks. The motor never really smoked much .It does not appear to be
consuming any additional oil however the exhaust makes me think differently.Anyone have similar??? Is there a way to check if the correct amount of oil is being introduced with the fuel?? Charlie

the service manual for your motor will have a procedure to checking oil delivery and proper adjustment of the rod to oil pump

With water temps getting cooler I would check the thermostat as well.

What do your plugs look like?

There is a plastic clip that holds a link in place between the throttles and the oil pump. If that clip breaks the oil pump will default to the maximum oiling position. The clip is known to age with time, get brittle and break.

I would check that.

The clips look fine (assuming I was looking at the correct ones) I attached pics .One pic shows a nut that looks as if it may have backed off a bit. Excuse the red and tacky grease, does not look pretty.I also included a pic of the oil resevoir on the motor. Not exactly sure how to open it.Looks like a pop up and not a twist off.Charlie
