I wanted to get some advice on Pistons for a 2000 Johnson 175 hp model # J175vxsss carb type motor . I am going rebuild and will be replacing them with .20 over . are aftermarket as good as Johnson oem pistons ? what pistons kits would be be best to use if Johnson .20 over are not in stock . Thanks for the input .. JJB [h=1][/h] rebuild

Oh yes! Pro Marine has Vertex for sure. WSM is everywhere. I am not a big fan of engine kits, but that's just me. You get lots of stuff you don't need in opinion. Tear your engine down first to see what you need. Kits play on car rebuild strategy.

Yes cast is the way to go. ProV is Pro Marine piston I believe. Very close to the Vertex if not the same?
