200 OceanPro Magnum Gearcase Transplant

Well Guys, I finally found a replacement gearcase for the original, worn out 1998 Series "O" gearcase on my 200 OceanPro.

I was going to go for an SEI replacement L/U, but the reviews have been checkered (50% love'em, 50% hate 'em), but the OMC users seemed to have pretty good luck with them, and I was goon do it.

Then I an opportunity presented itself over at another forum, to pick up a freshwater, low hour 2004 Magnum Gearcase of a Ficht RAM Evinrude 225 for about 1/2 the cost of the SEI, and its OEM.

Its a beefier case,(about 25% larger) Click image for larger version Name:	20170611_173306.jpeg Views:	1 Size:	1.04 MB ID:	10700893 and will bolt right on to my motor leg.

I've decided to share this with you guys, and will be posting pics as this project progresses.

Stay Tuned!

Check the driveshaft height and change shift rod and you will be good to go. Also this gearcase will slow you down about 1-3 MPH depending on hull type.

I checked the shift rod height,

The original "O" series case is 26 15/16"

The Magnum is 26 29/32"

Plus or minus 1/32"

I'm getting the driveshaft and the shift rod with the Magnum if I need it.

1-3 mph WOT loss is negligable, I'm not racing this boat, but I do want the durabilityof the beefier case.

The original "O" series gearcase was worn, and it did not like spinning my Rebel propeller.
