Started my motor up on the hose Sunday and had a lot of milky oil coming out of prop barrel. Took the lower unit off and the exhaust cavity is full of 2 stroke oil. Small amount of clear oil was on the drive shaft spline and dripping out the mid section cover.

Did some research and I think it's either a faulty check valve or the oil injection pump is leaking internally?

This motor has always used more oil than the other over the last year and plugs showed no sign of running rich.

Any thoughts?

Not sure exactly but I do know that all Yamaha jet ski oil injection systems default and spring to full flow of oil, should the cable attached to throttle break or fail.
perhaps different on yours.

I checked plugs and they are all normal looking, compression was 100psi on all cylinders,( I only have a rubber gasket style gauge that you have to hold so it may be higher with a screw in gauge) I adjusted oil pump linkage, it was probably 1/16 off the pin so I adjusted to pin with throttles closed. Motor definitely idles better. No oil on ground right after running but came back today and there was a small puddle under exhaust (I have lower unit off) . Previously there would be oil right after running motor.

I am trying to have a mechanic check it out to see if it's a sensor issue, I cleaned 02 sensors last year but I dont know if they are working. Even in a pandemic mechanics are busy in the spring.

Maybe I just need to run it to let the rings set after a winter layup?
