200 hp efi eletric fuel pump

I have a 97 mercury 200 hp EFI if I turn the key on fuel pump does not turn on if I put a ground wire from case to ground side on pump, pump will come on and motor will crack and run. traced wires back to selnoid. is the selnoid bad on the ground side or could it be something else.

The ground side of pump is a floating ground controlled by the ECU internally(fuel driver circuit). If the pump runs as you stated the ECU has a problem..

Send to to Brucato to see if it can be repaired, if not his ACU ($1000) is about $500 cheaper than a OEM ECU...($1600)
