20 hp Johnson keep overheating..

i have a johnson 20 hp motor . and it keeps overheating , there is water coming out of the tail jet thingemejig..and i know idea now..<br />when i go in the water after about 5 mins its overheats again and cuts out...<br />Iv stripped it and fulshed the water system through and all seems ok.....<br />ANY IDEAS ANYONE???????????

Jacky Lad<br /><br />When you say it overheats, how does this manifest itself ?<br /><br />Does it smoke ? Does it splutter when it cuts out ? Can you restart it ?<br /><br />The more information ou give these boys, the quicker you will get you answer.

What year is this motor? By tail-jet thingemejig, do you mean the tell-tale stream of water from under the powerhead? Philby asked the question I most want to hear the answer to: How can you tell it's overheating?

a stream of water usually comes from under the power head not by some tail thingamejig

Overheating can come from different reasons:<br />Bad impeller or water pump ( did you replace impeller ? )<br />Hanging termostat, thermostat is located in top of cylinderhead, under the plate attached on cylingerhead. Test the thermostate i a cup, pouring warm water over, see if it openes.<br />Are the rubber bushings on top of and in the bottum og the water tube in leg in place, and fully open. Try checking theese three points. The engine maybee gets too little cooling water.

ARE YOU SURE IT IS OVER HEATING?<br />SOULD TO ME THAT THE COIL IS BAD.<br />WHEN IT GET HOT THEN THE SPARK<br />WELL START TO MISS.<br />REX1925@IWON.COM
