2 things every American should do before checking out

Brought on by BoatBuoy's Winchester post.<br /><br />I had a mentor that I worked for 3 different times over a ten year period in the marine business.<br />One of his philosophies was that..<br />EVERY American should at one time in their life<br />Own and Ride a Harley-Davidson!<br /><br />I knew exactly what he meant!<br />I had rode many HD's but never owned and rode my own until my late twenties! <br />What a difference! To actually own and ride your own part of the American experience! <br />It's a rush better than.. well you know! <br /><br />A few years ago while hunting season was comming up I got to thinking about that and even though I grew up hunting with many a winchester 94 I had never owned my own.<br /><br />So I went out and bought my own.. What a feeling once again! <br />You don't need to be a hunter, just buy one and target shoot with it. It's Americona! (sp)<br /><br />The gun that won the west and as as Spinner said brought down more deer than any other rifle!<br /><br />So the two things that I think every American should do.<br /><br />A: Own and ride a HD (any model) even for a short time.<br />B: Own and shoot a Lever Action Winchester. (any model) Just target shoot if you dont hunt<br /><br />I've been meaning to make this post for a couple years now.<br /><br />There is just nothing like it.

The Inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson, died and went to heaven. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end protrusion; <br />2. It chatters constantly at high speeds; <br />3. Most of the rear ends are too soft and wobble too much; <br />4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust; <br />5. And the maintenance costs are outrageous!" <br />"Hmmmm, you may have some good points there," replied God, "hold on." God went to his Celestial super-computer, typed in a few words and waited for the results. <br />The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it. <br />"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed," God said to Arthur, "but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours. <br />

@KG.<br />I do like the 30-30 lever action Winchester.<br />I will have a HD one day.<br /><br />And like Bob, I ain't going nowhere yet.

I have to agree with Heycods.<br />Winchesters are fun to shoot.<br />Rode a Harley once, that was enough to convince<br />me I'd never want to own one.

I own winchesters,never owned a harley but rode one,i put them up there with sting rays fun to drive every now and then but not my cup of joe.<br /> I do own a 175 johnson gives me great pleasure.and im not planning on going anywere ,God willing.

<br /><br />In Milwaukee, WI - I have a very negative view or Harley riders. They always came across to me as arrogant pr**ks. Of course, I'm thinking they just saw the bike I was riding and saw some punk early 20's kid on a jap bike terrorizing the freeways. But, I've seen more people on Harleys rolling on the throttle (dangerously I might add) than people on rockets.<br /><br />But, it's all perspective. I think Harley is a great organization and they have beautiful bikes. I'm thinking rather than owning a "HD" you must own a motorcycle in general to understand the feeling, or "high" you get from riding a bike.<br /><br />Sean

Never shot a winchester or rode a Harley, but I am building my own old school chopper...that will be sufficient.<br />Then again, I'm not American.
