Who can give the best SIMPLE definition and the differences between the 2 and 4 stroke 9.9's?

What does a high thrust 4 stroke offer over the 2 stroke besides economy?

Thanks!

4 stroke offers economy, much quieter, and more reliable. 2 stroke will be lighter and cheaper on the pocketbook. High thrust is just to get you to pay the extra money. Same propshaft horsepower, the 2 stroke will go a little faster due to less weight.

What are the gas and oil differences?

Re: 2 stroke vs 4 stroke 9.9

The four stroke will use just regular gas, and since it only combusts every other time it comes to the top, so it uses less of it. The two stroke fires every time it comes to the top, and the oil is mixed with the gas. This oil is differnt from motor oil you put in a car, it is a TC-W3 equvilent. The four stoke has oil in it like a car, and will need to be change on a regular basis, like a car. If you keep the 4 stoke long enough, it will pay the extra cost by saving gas and oil. The extra weigh comes from the oil in the crankcase, valves, cam, etc. like in a car. Before, a 4 stroke would weigh twice the amount of a 2 stroke of the same horsepower, but the new technology has slimmed this a good bit.

By the way, they will use the same gas, 87 octane.
