2 stroke versus 4 stroke power

I have an 18 foot runabout powered with a Merc 115 6 cyl 2 stroke engine until it self destructed. Two different dealers are pushing 90 hp Honda, Yamaha, or Merc 4 stroke engines, stating they deliver as much at the prop as the Merc 115. Is this true or are they pushing the 4 stroke 90 because it's the largest they make? Bottom line: I want to pull two skiers with ease, which my Merc 115 did; what size engine do I need?

Hello;
Why not go with what you know works.
Ask the Dealers of these enormous, over weight, under performaning 4-strokes if they will refund your money if you are not 100% satisfied with "their" recomendation of the use of "your" money. Should seperate the boys out quickly.
The larger 4-strokes have a list of very favorable qualitys, although being a ski motor, may not be one of their best uses.
Each of the com****** you have mentioned offer a 2-stroke in the HP range you are interested in you should ask about them.
This is strickly my own oppinion but ultimately it is your wallet. Why not consider the motor you know will do the job. (and save a few bucks differance to boot)
Just thinking out loud.
Rob
