Hi ... just bought myself my first inflatable. An Avon R2.50. Still in good condition. Using a Mercury 3.3hp 2 stroke with it. Planning to get a new 3.5 4 stroke for it. Will this make a big difference in terms of power? What is the main diffrence between a 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine?

Thank you...

The HP difference is very little in power, in terms of weight, a 4 strokes weights more than 2 strokes. Being a small portable, no problem to carry. Personally would go for a 5 HP.

Thanks Sea Rider. What about noise or maintenance? Would it be the same or a 4 stroke is more reliable and take more of a beating than a 2 stroke?

2 stroke will give you better performance and alot lighter.
Four strokes generally very reliable but more expensive to service generally as well.

Nissan makes some very nice, very quiet low HP 4 stroke outboards, maybe check them out before you buy.
