I’m looking for a resource that helps a fella figure out what power heads swap on to what lower units.
My specific situation is I have a 1994 50 jet with a cooked powerhead and I would like to replace it with a bigger unit if I can, ideally a 90 or 85. My understanding is there was a change in 99 where even a 50 for a 50 would cause some issues in a swap. 40s and 50 are the same block, 60s through 80s are the same.
I see 90s and 85s for $2500-$6000 and I dream that my lower would bolt up to them. Another important note is my motors are all jets so at some point the medium pump is replaced by the large one, I just don’t know when. I know 4 stroke f60s get the same pump my f40 gets and I don’t think they ever made a 90 factory 2 stroke jet. Where do I start?
