2 pee streams on Nissan 9.8 2 stroke. One is cold, one is hot. Does it matter?

The normal pee stream on the side of my outboard (and most outboards) is always cold and streaming just fine. On the rear of the engine there is a second stream - in the pic attached it is circled. This hole sputters until the engine is warm, then streams warm/hot water and smoke. I'm assuming this is normal.

After running a couple hours I noticed the water from the rear hole was really hot, and it seems to spew a bit more smoke. We were running with one more person than normal in a 12' inflatable soft bottom boat.

Should I be concerned about the back stream temperature? Again, the pee stream on the side is cold and seems just fine.

2004 Nissan 9.8B 2 stroke (not the one pictured, but the same model).

The back opening is the idle relief port. It allows less back pressure at slow speeds, to improve idle. The exhaust is quite hot, so the water with it is also very warm. Normal.

Check when at idle if water flowing from idle relief changes from hot to warn cycles. Water coming out should not burn your hand. If the temp cycles does not change just stays hot, change thermostat, probably rusted, shot, does not controll its working temp right ?
