Thanks to everyone for their input on my previous posts. I have one more inquiry.
I'm going to get a 25hp...Yamaha or Tohatsu/Nissan...With all other factors being equal, ie, service availability, price, weight, displacement, etc., would you recommend the 2cyl or the 3cyl?
Thanks in advance.

I would go with a 3 Cyl, if for no other reason, it will be much smoother operating. And it may have a bit more lower end power to boot.

I agree with rick. The three cylinder will have more low end power. plus it will be getting three power "pulses" instead of two on each revolution. This results in less time for power and speed loss between "pulses." Good Luck

James

Last year I had the same dilemma between a 1994 25hp Evinrude (2 cylinder) and a 1994 30 hp Yamaha (3 cylinder). I got the 3 cyliner after advice from this board. Smoother operating, less vibration and of course a little bit more power. I have no regrets at all. I'm glad I did it.
Dman

You do not say the size of your boat or how you are mouting it but if wieght in not a factor go withe the 3 CYL. If wieght is a factor like on a lift bracket or a small boat I would go with the 2 Cyl.
