I have a 1985 OMC v6.

Q1.
On the starboard side of the engine there is an electric motor that sits vertical. It has what appears to be two cables or lines running to the engine mounts. What the heck is it?

Q2
On the port side of the engine there is yet another electic motor sitting horizontal against the transom. Is this the tilt motor?

Thanks fellow Iboaters!

Vertical is your trim motor/pump. On Stringer units the engine and drive tilted up and down to achieve trim. The motor mounts are hydraulically pumped by the motor/pump and lines you are speaking of.

The horizontal motor is your tilt motor. This is used to tilt your drive for transport. Many people complain about the OMC, ball gears etc...
Many of those people have used the tilt as a trim and when you do so you tear up the ball gears.

welcome to the OMC club :)

That's interesting about the hydro trim system. I was confused about that motor. Thanks for the reply.
