I have two lines running from front to rear of boat. They have a chrome connector on each end that goes to battery.Should I split the leads or leave on 1 battery. The 40 hp mercury is on 1 battery. My trolling motor is a 36 # minn kota auto pilot. Thanks for the info

Im not too sure what you are trying to say here. You should always hook your trolling motor to just one deep cycle battery. The other one should be dedicated to starting.

Do not use your start battery to run the troller (unless you like to row your boat). If you are a serious fisherman and one battery doesn't last all day, then a second battery is normally installed in parallel (POS to POS, NEG to NEG) to provide about twice the run-time. If one battery works for you, leave it as is. When it comes time to replace the battery, buy the largest deep cycle that will fit in the available space. Two batteries are wired in series to provide 24V for motors that run on 24V.
