I have been told it is not possible to convert a 2 line fuel system as used on old Johnsons & Evinrudes to a single line system. Is this true? Read another post here that indicates it can be done??

Have done a search here but found nothing. Maybe I did not use proper terminology in my search?

Re: 2 line fuel system conversion

I've been told that it CAN BE DONE. Was told that I would have to install a pulse line and could attach a fuel pump off of a later model engine of similar horse power. My project is about a 1956 15 hp johnson. I was told to use a fuel pump off of a later model single line 15,18 or 20 hp (or something like that). Only drawback I can think of is the value reduction for it's antique value.... I'm not into antiques as much as I am into getting in the water and moving up and down the river without having to paddle.

Re: 2 line fuel system conversion

My 10hp Johnson has been re-painted by a previous owner so the antique value is gone. I too just want dependability while maintaining the 'retro' look of my project boat. Thanks for the answer. I can see how it can be done using an electric fuel pump but my engine is manual & don't want to go there.
