Thanks to all who contribute to this forum
Haven,t visited in awhile.

I have a 5.7L OMC '75(reman. long block 75hrs) pts ign.
23' Mako CC
The chain cover I have has no timing mark.
I have set timing w/a vacuum guage.
Is this ok?

Also the remanufact. says to replace the advance springs
I see 2 sets available. BRP parts site.
Which set should I use?
They say they are colored, I don't see a color {old}

I dont think I have a problem with these springs I just can't think about these instructions.

I'm kinda strange like that

Thanks wk

Re: 2 ignition questions

You can get a timing tab with the numbers on it from NAPA for just a few bucks. They come in 2 sizes, so get the one for your diameter of vibration dampner.

I wouldn't worry about those springs. BRP may have the number listed, but about 75% of the numbers listed in that catalog are NLA (No Longer Available)
Don't forget, OMC went out of the sterndrive buisness about 10 years ago.

Re: 2 ignition questions

Make or buy a piston stop. A bolt threaded into a sparkplug shell will work.
Manually turn the engine over until the piston hits the stop, mark the timing cover.
Turn it the other way until it hits the stop.
Halfway between is TDC. Mark the timing cover.
then measure the distance between the marks on somebody elses engine to set advance.
Or hit the junkyard.
