Do you think buying expensive oil from the dealer would make a difference from buying cheap oil from walmart?

Re: 2 cycle oil

From all that I have read on this board the walmart brand is the same a Quicksilve plus. I don't know if that's true but for me when I had a 2 cyl. O/B I only used Quicksilver plus and never had a problem with carbon or anything sticking.

Re: 2 cycle oil

If you do a search, you'll see this question has been answered ad infinitum ad nauseum. I'm beginning to suspect that there may be a difference in where one lives: those of us who boat in colder waters should probably stick with the manufacturers' brands; those in warmer climes can be more casual in choosing the brands. The reason, I'm told, is that OB motors run cold in cold water (well, duh!), and cheaper oils, even tho TWC-3 grade, won't burn as well as motors in where the water is 40 degrees warmer....<br />Wonder if this topic will ever disappear? ;)
