Does 2 cycle oil have a shelf life. I am doing a little clean up in the basement and found I have 6 bottles of Johnson/Evinrude oil that is probably 10 to 15 years old. I would like to use it in my 1990 25 HP Johnson. It has never been opened. Just wondering if I can still use it. What do you think?

Probably no good. Send it to me for safe disposal. Just kidding. I'm sure it would be fine, I would use it without hesitation, but lets here what the petrochemical engineers have to say about it. Rick.

If oil has a shelf life, just store it somewhere else!

Seriously though, it's oil, made from long since dead things. It'll be okay in your basement for a few years (give or take 10,000)

I have to add though that I did once have some that deteriorated.
It was only a small quantity left in a bottle for a number of years. It went all "gloopy" and would not mix with the gasoline!

I would not expect any problem with full bottles but just be a bit wary of small quantities left in a bottle.
