Is it possible to run 2 bilge pumps off of 1 float switch? I have a 1300 gph main bilge pump in the center of my bilge. I have 2 spare 750 gph i would like to set up higher in the bilge for safety pumps.

I suppose it's possible. But wouldn't the other pump (the higher one) turn on too soon? Can you run those things without water for very long?

my 1300 gph pump has it's own float switch. The other 2 pumps(750 gph) will be around 18 inches higher then my main pump. Setup to turn on if the water ever gets that high

I would recommend not doing that for the simple reason.. what if the float gets stuck? Then you have two great pumps, neither of which will turn on. The rule of thumb I have heard is to mount the float at the lowest point hooked to the weakest pump, then have a manual pump higher up which pumps more GPH.

The logic behind this is:

- You want small bits of water to be automatically removed
- You want to use as little battery life as possible to empty the bilge
- If things are bad enough to need to switch on the manual pump, you want it to be a super fast pump

Not a good idea. As stated before, switch goes out.. boat takes on water.. sinks or swamps. Switches are cheap and easy to install. Do it right for anyone who boards her.
