I have a new boat project going and i`m going to put 1 deep cycle up for the trolling motor and the back is a starting /deep cell for the starting. The boat is also equipped with :
bilge pump
livewell pump
nav lights
radio
So my question is, which acc to which battery? Lights and radio to the front trolling motor battery and the bilge and livewell to the back , what is the common set up?. Will the livewell pump drain the battery . It has a Mercury 40 hp on it that does have a charging system. This boat was bought as a project and much of the wiring is missing or just lying there. Thanks

You don't state how the Batteries are connected together, if at all.
How does the Trolling Battery get charged?
The Trolling Battery is going to be heavily cycled and can not be relied upon toward the end of any given day, therfor....
The Trolling Motor goes to the Trolling Battery and everything else attaches to the Main Battery.

A redundant Battery setup would include 3 batteries.
The Starting Battery Serves only engine related functions, plus the Automatic Bilge Pump.
The House Battery Serves all other Accessories.
The Trolling Battery/Bank Serves the Trolling Motor.
